U.C. Davis, Davis, CA, 1992-1994
- Taught calculus course for advanced placement students. Duties required design of course assignments, lectures and extra-curricular activities, and insuring a high standard of education across multiple instructors.
- Initiated and orchestrated first-ever campus wide Mathematics Awareness Week activities, including an open house, hands-on demonstrations, guest lectures, and outreach.
- As part of graduate work in math education, researched math instruction through play and strategy games, leading to a term paper and a lecture on the topic.
- In collaboration with Prof. Sharon Dugdale, conducted research on use of spreadsheets for remedial math education in middle school. The results were reported in Dugdale, S., DeKoven, E., & Ju, Mi-Kyung (1998).
- Assisted in various courses for sixth graders, including: art, math, social studies, and writing. Responsibilities included guiding advanced students through additional mathematics modules.
- Taught lunch time activity group on strategy games. Students were led through playing new types of strategy games. Afterwards, we discussed what a strategy was and how to describe one, and compared the types of strategies of the different games.
- Ran after-school remedial program, including use of computer math games as well as one-on-one assistance.
- Assumed full duties for teaching classes on sixth grade computer keyboard skills (typing).
Math Advocate (independent), Santa Cruz, CA, 1990-1991
- 1990 Asilomar, CA: For large class of math education professionals, presented a method for discussing the fourth dimension using toothpicks and mini-marshmellows.
- 1991 Sonoma, CA: Invited to present at conference following strong positive review of presentation in Asilomar.
- 1991 Santa Cruz, CA: Spearheaded first-ever Santa Cruz County Creative Math Festival, attended by over 250 kids, parents, artists and math professionals.

- Initiated campuswide mathematics club and departmental newsletter.
- Initiated and coordinated first campuswide Mathematics Awareness Week. Activities included an open house of the math department, along with videos, guest lectures and demonstrations.
- Participated in the management of the precalculus curriculum, and taught precalculus study groups.
